Press Kit - Interesting Golf Facts

Overview

Northeast Florida is home to the best golf holes in the Sunshine State, including one of the most famous in golf today – the famed 17th island hole of TPC Sawgrass Stadium Course. The area also is home to the history of golf at the World Golf Hall of Fame in St. Augustine and THE PLAYERS Championship each March in Ponte Vedra Beach.

The 75-mile stretch that makes up Northeast Florida includes Amelia Island, Clay County, Jacksonville, Ponte Vedra Beach, St. Augustine, and Flagler County. With such diverse locations, golfers will find a wide selection of golf courses to choose from. The courses of the Amelia Island Plantation resort feature scenic views from fairways and greens overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Palm Coast's Ocean Hammock features more ocean play than any other course on the state's east coast. Visitors can challenge themselves on the same courses the pros play, such as the TPC at Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach. The World Golf Hall of Fame tees it up with the Slammer and the Squire, designed by Sam Snead and Gene Sarazen, and The King & Bear, the only course in the world designed together by Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus.
