Bring the Family to THE PLAYERS Championship

A look at the family fun you will find at THE PLAYERS tournament this year.

Northeast Florida takes the golfing spotlight as THE PLAYERS Championship returns to TPC Sawgrass May 9 - 14, 2017. This week of golf features the world’s best players at Pete Dye’s TPC Sawgrass and it is a great event to enjoy together as a family. And with children 18 and under admitted free when accompanied by an adult, there’s no reason to bring the kids along too.

Here’s a look at the fun for families you’ll find at this year’s tournament –

Kid-Friendly Activities Off the Course

When your little ones need a break from following their favorite players on the course, stop by the McKenzie Noelle Wilson Foundation Kid Zone. Here you’ll find a putt-putt course, arts and crafts, plenty of shaded areas, kid-friendly food and an active Imagination Playground too.
Make a $5 donation to First Tee of North Florida and take a swing at the PwC’s First Tee Challenge – home to a replica of the famed 17th hole, you’ll get two tries to make it onto this legendary island green.

Things to Know To Make Your Family Golf Day a Success

·       If your kid loves collecting autographs from the players, hang out at “kid’s corner” behind the 18th green and also the driving range, specifically for kids!
·       The tournament is held over Mother’s Day weekend, and it has quickly become a tradition for Sunday to be known as a ‘pink out’ with players and spectators wearing pink in support of honoring moms.
·       Have a picky eater? Fans can bring in their own food, it must be in a one-gallon clear, plastic bag. Food items must also be wrapped in clear wrap. No outside drinks are allowed.
·       Hungry for some local eats? Check out the food court featuring Northeast Florida favorites like M Shack, Mojo Kitchen, Candy Apple Cafe and Hawkers Asian Street Fare. And be sure to check out the popular Tacos on 12, featuring food and beverages from Jacksonville Beach’s own TacoLu.
·       Parking is free at the tournament on Tuesday and Wednesday. Other tournament days, parking passes are an additional cost. However, any car with four or more passengers park for free under THE PLAYERS “Four for Free” policy. You must print out the “Four for Free” parking pass online.

Take Advantage of THE PLAYERS Family Pass

Save money and stop by one of Northeast Florida’s 27 Daily’s convenience stores to purchase THE PLAYERS Family Plan package: two adult passes, unlimited youth admission at the gate  and two $10 concession vouchers.
