For many golfers, Caddy Shack is one of their favorite movies. And who can forget Bill Murray’s great role as a golf course superintendent! Well, Bill and his brothers have a permanent place on Florida’s First Coast of Golf with their Caddy Shack restaurant. They also have sponsored a charity golf event for the last decade - the Murray Bros. Caddy Shack Charity Golf Tournament. March 25 and 26, celebrities and avid golfers will join the Murray Bros. for two days of fun. Thursday night is the kickoff event which will feature a Crazy Pants contest. Friday is the actual tournament - this year actually two events. There is a Celebrity/Amateur event slated for the King & Bear Course and the regular tournament at the Slammer & Square - all at World Golf Village.
it’s not too late to get in on the fun. Call Chris Seely at 904-798-3308 or email him at cseely@trsg.net.
If you can’t make the event, the Caddy Shack restaurant is open year round to help you relive the movie experience.

One of the great things about Florida’s First Coast of Golf is that there are so many different types of golf courses to choose from. FFCG has everything from links courses to championship ones. And now, there’s an additional course to challenge the golfer. Amelia Island Plantation has reopened its Oak Marsh Golf Course. Designed by the legendary Pete Dye, Oak Marsh is noted for its tight fairways and small greens. It hugs the salt marsh creeks and is shaded by the moss-draped oaks that have made Amelia Island famous. This par 72, 6,500 yard course has 14 holes with water hazards. There are also a variety of bunkers to challenge any player. Amelia Island Plantation’s other golf options include the Ocean Links Golf Course, Long Point, and Amelia River.

One of the most common and disastrous swing faults that I see among golfers is re-gripping the golf club at the top of the swing. Re-gripping means you have allowed the fingers of your left hand (for right-hand golfers) to loosen on the club as you near the top of your swing. Then, as you transition from the back swing to the forward swing, you re-tighten your grip with those fingers. This initiates you casting the club over the top of the proper swing plane and results in you hitting either a weak slice or a pull-hook (depending on the angle of your club face at impact).
And just like many other swing flaws that happen, the golfer doesn’t realize he/she is doing it. This is what I call “a hidden flaw!” Continue Reading »
