Things to Do

Planning Your Stay

People come to Florida's First Coast for more than its exceptional golfing choices — the sun, shore and temperate climate draw visitors as well. To help you make the most of your stay in the area, here are a few helpful things to know.

Be Ready for the Sun

With 226 sunny days each year and its southern location, be prepared to protect yourself from the sun's rays that shine on Northeast Florida. On the course, or especially on the sand or water where reflected sun is most intense, keep sunscreen along to reapply as the day goes on.

Set for the Seasons

Due to its location in the northern part of the state, Florida's First Coast enjoys a pleasant change of seasons not found in most Florida cities. If you visit in the winter months, you may need lightweight outerwear outdoors, even on sunny days. If you plan to travel throughout the state in winter, you may need more than one set of seasonal clothing.

Stay Safe on the Water

With year-round opportunities to enjoy being in or on the water, be sure that children or anyone who may not be a strong swimmer is equipped with water safety gear.

Plan Ahead

Before you visit, check the operating hours of places you plan to go on the days you plan to be there. Easy online research can give you maps, prices and schedules.
