Bring the family to THE PLAYERS championship

A look at the family fun you will find at THE PLAYERS tournament this year.

Northeast Florida takes the golfing spotlight as THE PLAYERS Championship returns to TPC Sawgrass March 13 - 17, 2019. This week of golf features the world’s best players at Pete Dye’s TPC Sawgrass and it is a great event to enjoy together as a family. And with children 18 and under admitted free when accompanied by an adult, there’s no reason not to bring the kids along too.

Here’s a look at the fun for families you’ll find at this year’s tournament –

Scout out talent ahead of The Masters Tournament

For the first time in a dozen years, THE PLAYERS Championship will be held in March rather than May, before any 2019 Majors. Get the whole family together to watch players take on the iconic island green on hole 17 while you scope out talent for the upcoming Masters in April.

Kid-Friendly Activities Off the Course

When your little ones need a break from following their favorite players on the course, stop by the McKenzie Noelle Wilson Foundation Kid Zone. Cool off from the Florida heat at this enclosed air-conditioned destination. Here you’ll find a putt-putt course, arts and crafts, plenty of shaded areas, kid-friendly food and an active Imagination Playground too.

The 17th Hole Challenge presented by Grant Thornton, Optum and Morgan Stanley lets you take two free swings at a replica of the famed 17th hole within Stadium Village. You can make a donation to the First Tee of North Florida for additional fun: a $5 donation gets you an additional shot and a $20 (or more) donation gets you a “The First Tee Fast Pass”, where you can bypass the queue, take five shots and receive a free sleeve of golf balls.

Things to Know To Make Your Family Golf Day a Success

·       If your kid loves collecting autographs from the players, hang out at “kid’s corner” behind the 18th green and also the driving range, specifically for kids!
·       If you are just introducing your kid to the sport of golf, check out the mound to the left of the 3rd tee box. This layout makes it easy for beginners to follow along: you can watch players warm up on the practice grounds and watch players hit their approach shots in the 2nd hole and tee off on the third hole.
·       Have a picky eater? Fans can bring in their own food: it must be in a one-gallon clear, plastic bag. Food items must also be wrapped in clear wrap. No outside drinks are allowed.

·       This year the tournament ends on St. Patrick’s Day so if you are heading out to the tournament on Sunday make sure to wear your best green on the greens to avoid getting pinched!

·       Hungry for some local eats? Check out the food court featuring Northeast Florida favorites like M Shack, Mojo Kitchen and Hawkers Asian Street Fare. And be sure to check out the popular Tacos on 12, featuring food and beverages from Jacksonville Beach’s own TacoLu.
·       Parking is free at the tournament on Tuesday and Wednesday. Other tournament days, parking passes are an additional cost. However, any car with four or more passengers can park for free under THE PLAYERS “Four for Free” policy. You must print out the “Four for Free” parking pass online.

Take Advantage of THE PLAYERS Family Pass
Save money and stop by one of Northeast Florida’s 27 Daily’s convenience stores to purchase THE PLAYERS Family Plan package: two adult passes, unlimited youth admission at the gate and two $10 concession vouchers.
