Where to Stay & Play on Your Florida Golf Getaway

Ready to get away from it all and, more importantly, play golf? The warm weather of the Sunshine State is waiting for you along the First Coast. The sun will be shining down as the beauty of spring comes into full bloom.

The Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa and St. Johns Golf & Country Club are the perfect places to enjoy your next golf getaway on Florida's First Coast. Once you're ready to plan your trip, consider staying and playing here to make the most of your time in Northeast Florida.

Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa

With over 100 holes of golf surrounding the Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa, it’s the optimal place for you to center your getaway. But you'll want to turn your eyes to the TPC Sawgrass courses for a real test of your golf game.

The TPC Sawgrass The Players Stadium Course's “Island Green” on 17 is one of golf's most iconic holes, but the whole Stadium Course has plenty of water flanking the fairways. You'll have large greens to aim for but watch out for the bunkers along the way.

There's also Pete Dye's Valley Course at TPC Sawgrass, which also has plenty of water as well. The rolls of the fairways and the wind coming off the Atlantic Ocean create an enjoyable gauntlet of golf.

Since you won’t be swinging the clubs around all day, you'll want to find time to take in all of what the Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa have to offer. When you aren't on the course, there is a private beach club to relax at or the Sawgrass Spa where you can schedule a massage after your round. You'll have plenty of dining options as the eight restaurants on site offer everything from an elegant dining experience to a more relaxed family-friendly atmosphere.

St. Johns Golf & Country Club

There's also the St. Johns Golf & Country Club in St. Augustine, where Florida's natural wetlands continue to offer challenges for any golfer at any skill level. The pine forests add to the difficulty of the Clyde Johnston-designed course. Some of Florida's unique wildlife may be watching you play your round, so take time to take in the sun and the area's natural wonders.

In February of 2019, the course completed its $300,000 renovation project including upgrades and enhancements – part of the largest overhaul in the club’s history – to all 76 sand traps, an expansion and redesign of the practice putting green and construction of a new short game  area. It’s something to experience. And, more golf is less than 5 minutes away Cimarrone and Golf Club South Hampton.

The DoubleTree St. Augustine, located in St. Augustine’s historic district, and the Residences at World Golf Village serve as a home base for your golf getaway but don't forget to schedule your tee times, too.
