Steaks, Stogies, Stout and Scots: Clay County
Florida golf vacations are perfect for those who want to relax and unwind while enjoying some unforgettable golf along the way. For many, however, making the vacation truly memorable requires more than just excellent golf courses.
The ideal golf getaway includes a juicy steak, a bold-flavored cigar, an ice-cold brew and some post-round fun. Since Clay County provides all of these opportunities, it should be high on the list for anyone planning a Florida stay-and-play vacation.
Golf
Enjoy lush fairways and vintage Florida scenery along Florida’s First Coast at the Eagle Landing Golf Club. Tucked away in the Oakleaf Plantation community in Orange Park, The club features classic holes and luxurious amenities including a clubhouse, athletic club and village store. There is something for everyone at this friendly and affordable golf destination near Jacksonville. Of course, with more than 100 miles of coastal golf courses, you also have your pick of nearby play options to explore. Close by for a great lodging option is Courtyard Orange Park conveniently located near the highway. Other notable golf courses in the area you should check out: Eagle Harbor Golf Club, Magnolia Point Golf & Country Club & Fleming Island Golf Club. All 4 of these clubs are overflowing with wildlife, tucked back in the pines and always seem to be in fantastic condition that provide a fun challenge.

Steaks
There’s nothing better after a long day of golf than sitting down to a large, juicy steak, and Clay County serves up some of the best beef in the region. For a rustic steakhouse experience, try Ted’s Montana Grill. A celebration of Big Sky Country and big dinner plates, Ted’s is famous for serving bison as an alternative to beef in some dishes; but don’t worry, you can still get a delicious Kansas City strip or Delmonico ribeye.
If you’re up for a classic steak house and a scenic drive, visit the Tree Steakhouse across the Buckman Bridge in Mandarin. Located just nine miles east of Orange Park Mall, the Tree Steakhouse is a five-star restaurant featuring all the classic steak cuts such as ribeyes and New York strips. If you are playing at Magnolia Point Golf and County Club, be sure to check out The Pub's Argentinean Steak Burger right after your round if you are famished.
Other restaurants in the area that offer great steaks at a great price include Texas Roadhouse, Outback Steakhouse, Longhorn Steakhouse and Mojo Bar-B-Que, which serves its beef with a Southern flair and features a blues bar and a North Carolina-style BBQ pit.

Scottish Games
What better way to pay homage to the roots of the modern game of golf than to celebrate it in true Scotland style. Clay County Fairgrounds is home to the Northeast Florida Scottish Games and Festival. The Games continue to grow and reflect on the deep connections and effects the Scots and their descendants have had on Northeast Florida. Make some plans to make a day of it and enjoy the competitions, music, Celtic wares, outdoor recreational activities and so much more.
