Best Fourth of July
Holidays are a popular time for golfing, especially in the summertime. If you’re in Northeast Florida for the 4th of July, take advantage of golf courses and accommodations and celebrate with fireworks!
Here’s a helpful itinerary that allows you to spend time on the course and enjoy the celebration too.
Start the Day with a Tee Time
Take advantage of cooler temperatures and a quieter course and book a tee time for early morning before the day’s festivities begin.
Florida’s First Coast of Golf has courses for all pocket books – and all skill levels too. From Amelia Island’s Amelia River Club to Palm Coast’s Hammock Beach Golf Resort, playing 18 holes is a great way to celebrate our nation’s birthday. Don’t forget to check out Florida Coast’s newest short course options, Little Sandy in Amelia and Ponte Vedra Beach’s The Yards.
Where to Stay for the Holiday
Whether you prefer oceanfront accommodations or maybe a more affordable hotel closer to numerous courses, you’ll have no problem finding a place to relax and call ‘home’ during your time on Florida’s First Coast.
With a short walk to the ocean or an oceanfront view, Amelia Island has got you covered; Amelia Hotel at The Beach or Seaside Amelia Inn or the newly opened Courtyard Marriott SpringHill Suites are all minutes away from great golf.
For a front row seat to the Downtown Jacksonville fireworks, book a room at the Doubletree by Hilton – Jacksonville Riverfront. You’ll be able to enjoy the fireworks right from the comfort of your room.
The Perfect 4th of July for Golf-Loving Families
If you are in Northeast Florida for the Fourth of July, balance time on the green with local festivities to make your 4th unforgettable. If your little ones tire of golf easily and can barely make it through 10 holes, let alone all 18, try an alternative family game, like Topgolf. Score points using micro-chipped golf balls and Toptracer technology. The more accurate your shot and the farther the distance, the more points you earn. Grab your swim suits and head over Bent Creek Golf Course, where you’ll be about a half an hour from Jacksonville Beaches. Bent Creek is a public course that feels secluded, surrounded by trees and forest and plenty of shade.
This fourth, plan to play a little golf at Hidden Hills Golf Club, a gorgeous course re-designed by Arnold Palmer and located right next to the beach. But what’s better than playing right next to the beach… playing right ON the beach. Check out the award-winning Ocean Course at Hammock Beach. While you’re sinking hole-in-ones in the calm ocean breeze, your family can take a dip in the cool ocean waves.
If your family is looking for even more outdoor activities, there’s plenty of exploring to be done in Clay County. Home to many award winning golf courses, there are also numerous hiking and biking trails to enjoy. Bring a picnic and take in the lush Florida scenery before the evening’s festivities.
Celebrate with Fireworks
When nighttime arrives, celebrate Independence Day with your family and plenty of fireworks. Make your way to Downtown Jacksonville on July 4th for the fireworks show over the St. Johns River.
